Thigh lift (cutting away) removes excess skin and fat from both the inside and the outside of the upper thigh, if required. The excess skin and fatty tissue is cut away and so dramatic recontouring can be achieved, at the expense of a scar. However, the scar is placed in the groin crease so rarely is an issue in terms of post operative appearance. This surgery is often requested after significant weight loss or with general ageing when the elastic nature of the skin decreases and allows sagging in this area. Either reason is enough to consider the surgery and we will discuss the pros and cons of surgical reduction so that a clear understanding is achieved.
Thigh reduction (liposuction) improves the body contour when seen through slacks or tight dresses. In this instance, liposuction alone may be ideal, but for this procedure to be successful the skin must still have reasonable tone, as the skin will need to tighten and recoil in the weeks following liposuction to give the smoothest final contour.
Light dressings are removed at one week after both procedures and refreshed. It is possible with modern dressings to shower almost immediately after surgery. We will provide you, as part of our package price, with a supportive elasticated dressing which we recommend to be worn under clothes for 4-6 weeks following surgery. Normal activities can be undertaken straight away but more energetic exercise is restarted after one month.
