Arm Reduction

Age and large weight loss can unfortunately lead to sagging tissue on the upper arm which shows as a "bag" of flesh on the lower side of the upper arm when the arm is extended outward. This defect can be corrected by removing skin and subcutaneous tissue but surgery does leave a scar.

Arm Reduction surgery is increasingly popular and is performed under light general anaesthesia. The procedure which takes between 1 to 2 hours depending on the amount of tissue to remove and recontour. Postoperative discomfort is minimal and is usually well controlled with Paracetamol.

The stitches used are usually dissolvable and the supportive dressings are removed at one week. You can shower immediatel afterwards but dressings must be kept dry. We will show you how to do this.
